BASGAMES GFA 3 4.10.2023
The twelve best games for the XPRO VGA REDUCED 2.12 gaming
console are contained as games for the ATARI ST mono computer
in the BASGAMES GFA package. Twenty less interesting games
are contained as ATARI ST mono games in this BASGAMES GFA 3 package.
Xsquare ATARI ST mono is available as a seperate download,
so all 33 XPRO VGA REDUCED 2.12 games are available for the
ATARI ST mono. A version of GALAXY, which makes winning fights
against the aliens easier, is included as a bonus. Starbreak
is also available as a version with mouse steering in the
BASGAMES GFA 2 package.
The games are not tested on a real machine, but these versions of
the games were converted from BrowserBasic 2.05 to GFA Basic 3.6.
The programs run with the emulator hatari 1.8.0 and its built-in
EmuTOS-image (https://hatari.tuxfamily.org/download.html).
Running the games with hatari (in 2023):
Download hatari (a .zip) and extract the files to your hard
disk. Extract the files from BASGGFA3.zip to the folder
with the hatari files. Start hatari.exe. Press F12.
Select "Hard disks". Select "Browse" next to "GEMDOS drive"
and select the folder with the files from BASGGFA3.zip.
Choose "Back to main menu". Select "Reset machine" and "OK".
Double-click "DISK C" and select a game-folder with
double-clicks. The program file of a game (.PRG) can be
double-clicked to start it.
The games also run with Steem v3.2 (http://steem.atari.st),
if the TOS-ROM tos1.02de is used,
but they are not compatible to the STEmulator from the late 1990s.
GFA BASIC was chosen as programming language to get games
compatible to EmuTOS.
The subfolders in the BASGAMES GFA 3 download contain texts with
information in German, how to play the games. I think you can
also play them, if you just try out. You need to be familiar
with the German language only for the bonus game Galaxy.
The games from BASGAMES GFA 3 can also be played with the Hataroid
app and its built-in EmuTOS-image. Hataroid is available for
Android devices.
The games contained in this package are 2bomb, Comball, Galaxy,
Icepac, Icerace, Kbreak, MShift, Mtowers, Pacfull2, Planeto,
Sacmania, Spacecon, Starbreak, Sunmoon, Truebreak, X-black,
Xfight, Xlast, Xlines, X-Race and Xroll.
2bomb, Comball, Icerace, Pacfull2, Sacmania, Xfight and X-Race are
games for two players, the other games are for one player.
Galaxy can be played with one or more (n) players.
There are performance problems with Spacecon and Truebreak.
The other games don't need much CPU power. Truebreak generates
random levels. Some of the generated levels may not be solvable.
